Waverley Hills Grenache takes its place amongst the leading Grenache producers in the world
9 September 2016
The 2016 IWSC results were announced on 6 September with Waverley Hills Grenache 2015 achieving a Silver IWSC Quality Award.
Entries into the competition are received from nearly 90 countries worldwide. With this in mind, Johan Deport, Waverley Hills Winemaker comments, “We are very proud of being one of the Grenache wines awarded a Silver medal in this category. No Gold medals were awarded to any Grenache entered in the IWSC. No organic wine, either, was awarded more than Silver at IWSC.”
Grenache is the most widely planted red grape variety in the world and some of the best wines in the world have some Grenache in it. Single varietal Grenache wines are however hard to find.
Waverley Hills Grenache 2015 boasts flavours of watermelon, red apples, apricots and white spices are integrated to give this wine a fresh complexity. The palate is fresh and long lasting with smooth but firm tannins to make it the perfect food wine for all occasions.
The timing of this award comes in just before International Grenache Day which will be celebrated worldwide on 16 September. Don’t miss out on having some Waverley Hills Grenache to join the celebrations!
